School Transition Activities
Our school has planned transition activities to assist children as they become kindergarten students. In May, there will be a Kindergarten Orientation night. On this night, the teachers will meet with the parents to go over some of the basics that parents like to know before school starts. While the parents are with the teachers, the children get to play together in the multipurpose room and/or kindergarten classrooms under teacher supervision. In August, there will be an Open House for families to attend. On this day, families may come and see the classrooms which will be set up for the start of the year. It also gives parents a chance to ask any questions that they may have and for the children to meet other children that will be in their class.
As a way to enhance the year-long transition children undergo, there are five scheduled opportunities for the teachers to provide feedback to parents about their child and his/her progress. In October, there is a parent conference. In December and March, you will receive a progress report for your child (an online report which explains your child's progress). During March or April, parent conferences are scheduled again. On the last day of school the final online report will be issued reflecting the year's growth.
