YSCP Kindergarten Information
Extended Day Program
Young Scholars Charter School offers a dynamic extended day program from 3:50 pm to 5:15 pm, Monday through Friday. The Extended Day Program is available to all YSCP students, regardless of age or grade. Students in the program are provided with a structured and supervised schedule of activities. The program is very low cost and a great way to engage students in a safe and fun environment.
The Extended Day Progam is divided into two semesters each year. The first runs from September to January, and the second from January to May. Students may select one or two clubs each day to attend. Students choosing to participate in only the first club period need to be picked up at 4:30 pm. Students that choose to attend both club time periods need to be picked up at 5:15 pm.
The Extended Day Program also provides the children with:
-
ongoing relationships with caring adults
-
an environment that strengthens social skills and character
-
healthy snacks to meet students' nutritional needs
-
safe and well-designed indoor and outdoor spaces
Our clubs are divided according to grade level, and most are open to all ages. Some clubs meet several times a week, and others meet once a week. There are a total of ten sessions each week. Therefore, some students may participate in just two clubs a week and others might participate in ten clubs. A healthy snack and break are provided each day before the first club meets. This allows for the students to have some down time before heading to an activity. Homework help is provided as a daily club choice for all grade levels, except kindergarten.
Fees: The Extended Day Program costs as little as $20 per club for the entire semester depending on the clubs selected. Some clubs require an additional cost for enrollment, uniforms or equipment.
